Who being upon Oath severally say and
first the said Richard Townsend< no role >
for himself
Says that at about Seven o'Clock on Monday
Evening last he saw the Person now present
who calls himself Joseph Manning< no role >
and another Person now at large talking
together at the Door of his Masters Shop in
Oxford Street
aforesaid That they came into
the Shop together when the Prisoner asked
for a quarter of a Yard of Cloth at one Shilling
per Yard That an Apprentice to Mr. Capps
showed him some of that Price That the
Person who came in with the Prisoner said
to him (the Prisoner) do you think that will
''be enough'' and then drew back to the door
That Mr. Capps called out to the Apprentice
to get over the Counter for he was sure the
Men were thieves That the said Man
immediately took a Piece of Cloth and ran
out of the Shop with it And the said
Joseph Capps< no role >
for himself saith that he
Saw the Companion of the Prisoner take
a Piece of Cloth out of his Shop and run
away when he camed the Prisoner to he
secured
