of New Gravel Lane and William Ellery< no role > of Shadwell Market all of the
Parish of Saint Paul Shadwell Taken, this 27th day of March 1786 before us
Two of his Majestys Justices of the peace in and for the said County
John Thomas< no role > says two of the Chapels and the Age now produced
were taken out of an Empty house situate in Griffin Street Shadwell
on Thursday night [..] the 16 Instant which house he was Employed to Repair for Mr.
Thomas Dyles< no role > of St. Paul Shadwell says the Chipels and Axe are his property
William Haycock< no role > says he saw the Two Chapels and axe in
the said house One Thursday the 16th of March Instant at the Time
They left Work in the Evening and that he verily believes they are
the Property of the said John Thomas< no role >
John Fletcher< no role > to says on Monday Morning last he received
Information That the Prisoners present who say their Names are
Janath [..] bard and William Sherburd< no role > had carried Two Bags
supp [..] contain Copper into the House of Mr. Owles in Sun Tavern
fields [..] that the said Jonathan and William were at home at a house
in [..] Sun Tavern field - Says he with William Elbey< no role > went to the
said he [..] found the Prisoners And in Searching the said house
in the [..] The Two Chipels [..] now produced [..] found the
Large [..] Cock a Small Cock Bunck of Keys Mortice Chissel
and [..] Hangers in the Lower Room of the said house where
The said Prisoners were sitting at Dinner

William Elbey< no role > says on Wednesday Evening Last John Thomas< no role > informed
him he had lost an Axe and recollecting that when he was in the House
of the said William Sturburd< no role > that he thought saw the Handle of an
Axe he went with the said John Thomas< no role > to the said house and found the same
in the Wash house says before he she said John Thomas< no role > saw the Axe that day
he described the same as having a piece of the Helve of the Axe broke off [..]
at the Handle and on seeing the same said it was his property and would
& wear to it
