and

to
said

taken before me
this 10th. day of February 1786
Who being upon Oath say and first the said
John Archer< no role >
saith that the Nine pair of Silk Stockings now
produced are his property, and are part of twelve pair and
one odd one Stolen in his Shop on Thursday the first day of
of December last - And John Idle< no role >
saith that between 8 and
Nine o Clock on said Thursday Morning two men came into the
Shop to buy a pair of Worsted Stockings at which time the said
12 pair of Silk Stockings and one odd one lay upon the
Counter in his Master Shop, close to where said Men stood;
that said two Men went away without purchasing any
Stockings and in about an hour after they were gone this
Informant missed said 12 pair of Stockings and an odd one;
and is very sure that no person whatsoever was in said Shop from
the time of said two Men coming in, to the time of his missing
said Stockings; and doth verily believe that a person now present
who calls himself Hugh Mc. Donald< no role >
is one of said two Men
and which two Men he is very sure feloniously Stole said
Stockings.
