The Information of Elizabeth Faulkner< no role > , Thomas Read< no role > ,
Thomas Mullinger< no role > , Samuel Booth< no role > , Thomas Schutz< no role > .
John Labor, Robert Gregory< no role > and John Dixon< no role >
and Mary Langley< no role > taken before me this 27th.. Day of Septembr. 1784.

Who being on Oath say and first the said Elizabeth Faulkner< no role > says that,
on Sunday the 12th.. of Septemr Insts. between 3 & 4 o'Clock in the Afternoon,
as this Informant was sitting on the Stairs near a front Window in said
Thomas Reads House in Saint James Square a Woman now present who
calls herself Margaret Hamilton< no role > came to the Window, and asked "If Mr.
Read was at home" this Informant replied no that He was not in
Town She then asked if the Maid was at home Informant replied
No, that she was gone awayThat she then asked who looked after
the House, Informant replied that it was a Gentlewoman which Mr.
Read had purposely got to look after it in his Absences. She then
Asked what the Maids Name was that was gone away Informant
asked if she meant Bannister she replied Yes: and observed that
she understood Bannister was coming back again when Mr Read
came to Town Informant replied 110, that she had another Place.
That said Margt. Hamilton then asked Informant for how long Mr. Read's
Man was gone out, and how long the Gentlewoman was gone out
for Informant Replied that the Man was gone out for the Afternoon
but that the Gentlewoman was only gone for some Linen & would
soon Return Informant then asked her if she had any Message
to leave and what her Name was to which said Hamilton replied
that she had no Message to leave and that leaving her Name was not
material as she did not know that the Maid knew her Name after
which she went awayThat in about a quarter of an hour after
-wards, a Person now present who calls himself James Hamilton< no role >
(with another Man) came to the said Window and asked Informant
if Mr. Read was at home, Informant replied 110. He was not in Town
That said James Hamilton< no role > the asked If He could leave a Note,
