Joseph Harrington< no role > of the Parish of Saint George Bloomsbury
in the County of Middlesex Gentleman Maketh Oath and Saith
that being summoned to attend as a Juryman at Justice Hall
in the Old Baily London in the Month of September last, he this
Deponent was incapable of giving such Attendance for that being one
of the Stewards or agents of His Grace the Duke of Bedford and
having the Care and Management of His Graces Estates in
Hampshire he this Deponent was under the necessity of
attending and did actually attend in Hampshire aforesaid upon
particular Business relative to such Estates during several days
of the Sessions which were held at Justice Hall in September
last as aforesaid and that such attendance by this Deponent
in Hampshire aforesaid was absolutely necessary for this
Deponent to give, the same having been appointed previous to
the Receipt of the Summons for attending at Justice Hall as
aforesaid

And this Deponent further Saith That he delivered
the Summons to Mr. Fletcher Clerk< no role > to David Walker< no role > Esquire
and that he the said Mr. Fletcher< no role > informed this Deponent that
he had business to do at the said Session and he would undertake
to Acquaint this Honorable Court with the Reasons for this
Deponents not attending as above mentioned.

And this Deponent lastly Saith That his neglecting
to Attend the Court inpursuance of such Summons was for the
reasons above mentioned and not out of any Contempt to this
Honorable Court.
