the time and in the Manner aforesaid And the Informant
having some cause of Suspicion of a Person now Present who
calls himself Charles Chapman< no role > desired Some of his Friends
and Acquaintance to seek after him and to Apprehend him
which they did, And brought him to this Informant at the
Watch House of the Parish of St. Mary le bone

And this Informant Margaret Vialls< no role > for herself upon
her Oath saith That she went from her Dwelling House in
oxford Market Place to her shop in Oxford Market between
Twelve and one o'Clock in the Afternoon of Saturday the
Second Day of December instant 1775, And that before the
went to the shop she fastened the Several Windows of the
Parlours, And in particular that of the Back Parlour,
the sash of Which she fastened and secured down with
a Screw which was used therein for that purpose And
that then she double Locked the Door of the Back Parlour
and put the key of the said Door into her Pocket (the Door
of the Front Parlour being Secured on the Inside) And that
in the Course of the Afternoon she was several times backwards
and forwards between the shop and the House without having
why Occasion to go into the Parlours, And that at about
Eleven o'Clock at Night, she this Informant left the shop
and went home, When (having a Candle in her Hand) Upon
her unlocking the Back Parlour Door, She Saw the Sash of
the Window therein Wide open, And upon casting her Eyes
in to the fore Parlour, she discovered that her Husbands
Bureau had been opened, And the Paper therein, Scalttered
about, upon which the immediately called out from the
Door And Alanned her Husband (who was at his Shop
within Call) And this Informant further Saith That
about Three Weeks ago, she herself did put into the said
Bureau A Bank Note, of the Value of Thirty Pounds, And
she doth verily believe that the Bank Note of Thirty Pounds
Now produced to the same which the put into the said Bureau
