The Information of William Mercer< no role >
taken before Us two of his Majesty's Justices
of the Peace for the said County

Who being upon Oath Saith that the begining
of last Week he saw Robert Jones< no role > looking at the
Shew Glasses of his Shop Windows & at the same
time his Nephew Francis Henry Hay< no role > was behind
the Counter sewing a Customer this Informt. asked
the sd. Francis why do you not go & Speak to your
friend Captain Jones for the sd. Francis had told
him that the Captain had given him Money several
times. but the sd. Francis seemed very shy of going
to the said Captain Jones & this Informt. pressed
him several times to go to the Captain & he still
declined it the Captain then went to the next
Window &abin two or three Minutes the Captain
came into the Shop & be spoke a Shirt Buckle
which he desired might be sent to him to any
Morning that Week. but did not speak to the said
Francis And this Informt. then told Charles Rapley< no role >
Who was present in the Shop that that was
Franks Customerupon which Mr. Rapley asked
this Informt. the meaning of it & he told him that
it was thorough the said Francis the said Captain
Jones came to the Shop and that the sd. Francis
mentd to this Informt. he hoped that he would
carry it home himself, this Informt asked him
why? his Answer was that he might gat more of
Captain Jones Business this Informant then
went out of the Shop & left the said Mr. Chas Rapley< no role >
with him this Informant further saith that
about a Month age he sent the said Francis to Captain
Jones's Lodging with either One or a pair of Knee
Buckles which he had mended & at that time the
said Francis was as this Informt. apprehends very
well in health but that a few Days after the said
Francis complained of [..] Pains about his
Legs & knees & appeared to Walk in pair & on the
Sunday Following he could not walk at all and
