The Information of Thomas Grix< no role > taken on Oath before
me John Sherwood< no role > one of his Majestys Justices of
the Peace in and for the said County this 7th. day of
March 1772 .

Who saith that [..] about the latter End of the Month of January
last or the begining of the Month of February last being
then on board of the Ship or Vessel called the Stephen and
Elizabeth William< no role > Foster commander and which said ship
or Vessel then was and lay of or near the Hermitage in
the said County he saw Henry Stokley and Thomas Hall< no role >
Scoope or take up and throw into a Sack [..] about three
Bushells of Barley part of the Carge or Lading of the said
Ship Saith that the next day a man in a boat came a Long
Side of the said Ship and then came in and went upon the ford
castle of the same and took up and Inspected the said Barly
and then said in this Informants presence that "he would
take it but that the price was too much saith that Thomas
Hall
< no role > above mentioned replied to said Man and said no it was
not too much and there upon the said Man Opened A Sack
and the said Thomas Hall< no role > & Henry Stokley took up the
Sack and Corn aforementioned and through or put the
same into the said Mans Sack and then the said Man
threw his said Sack and the Corn so put in into his [..]
said Boat upon Which he saw said Man take out of his
Pocket several Shillings, and gave the same to the
aforementioned Thomas Hall< no role > and then went into his said Boat and Rowed away Saith that one Henry
Ringwood
< no role > (who also belonged to the said ship) Assisted the said
Henry Stokley and Thomas Hall< no role > in taking up the said
Barley and in putting the same into the Sack and did also
assist and help to put the same into the Mans Sack who
came along Side the next day as aforementioned and was
present when the said Man Paid or gave the said Stokley
and
