me this 11th. day of December 1771
Who being upon Oath says that in the Month of April last he was decoyed
into a house in Goodmans fields
and was defrauded of forty pounds and upwards
by a person now present who calls himself Thomas Cavenagh< no role >
and one John
Smith< no role >
and a third and fourth persons whose Names this Informant does not know by
cutting a Pack of Cards, says that after the said persons had won the
greatest part of the said Money from him one of the said persons bid
this Informant turn out what he had upon which this Informant laid on
the Table two Guineas three Shillings and a six pence that the said
Thomas Cavenagh< no role >
immediately took away the said two Guineas three
Shillings and six pence without any Wager being then decided or
having any Pretence of having won the said Money says that the
Door was bolted for the most part of the Time that this Informant was
in the said house and a Woman stood at the Door and told this
Informant she had a right to bolt the Door if she pleased
