The Information of John Pemberton< no role > one of the
Watchmen of the Parish of St. Mary le bone in the
County of Middlesex taken upon Oath before me
one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace in & for
the said County City & Liberty this 13th January 1770

This Informant being upon his Oath saith; that as he was calling the
Hour of Twelve last Night (to wit Friday Night the 12th Inst.) in margaret
Street, He this Informant was called to by another Watchman who is now
personally Present whose Name is Samuel Oliver< no role > , The said Samuel Oliver< no role >
telling him this Informant that there was a Shop then breaking open
in Oxford Street , & that he desired this Informant to come to help him to
apprehend the Offenders, who were then at work, in [..] breaking
open the Same; And that accordingly this Informant went along with
the said Samuel Oliver< no role > to the place, where they saw therefourMen breaking
open the Outside Shutters of a Shop Window in Oxford Street , and that one
of the said threefourMen's Name is Louis a Smith who works now or lately
did, for Mr Robert Hayes< no role > a Master Smith in Oxford Street ; and that
upon this Informant and Samuel Olivers< no role > coming up to the place where
they were breaking into, the said threefourMen seperated and dispersed
but that soon after this Informant going to the said Shop Window, found
the said threefourMen there again at Work in breaking open the said
Shutters, And they did actually break open the said Shutter and made
a large hole therein, of the whole length of the Pannell, & wide Enough
for a man to thrust his Arm through, quite up to his Shoulder, And
this Informant upon his Oath saith that the said Shutter was so broke
by the said threefourmen, in order to rob the said Shop (of whom the said Louiswas one)
