Westminster to wit


The Information of Richard Williams< no role > of
Fleet Street taken before me this 21st.
day of August 1768

Who being upon Oath says that on the 9th. of April last a
Person now present who calls herself Mary Ann Burk< no role > came
to his Shop and be spoke [..] four Sattin Cloaks, one Silk
Bonnet, two hats, one Silk Handkerchief, one Gauze Handkerchief,
two Yards & half of thread Lace, 14 Yards of Ribbon & one Box to be
ready by two o'Clock to go into the County to her Mistress telling
this Informant at the Same time that she had a forty pound
Bank Note to pay for them and asked him if he could
change it, says that she came several times to this Informts.
house before two o'Clock to hurry them to make up the
Cloaks, says that she went up stairs to Mrs. Ann Williams< no role >
this Informants Wife several times, says that before two
o'Clock she came in & told this Informant thats she had
left the forty pound Bank Note up stairs With Mrs.
Williams & desired him to let her have part of the Change
to buy some other things to send in the County, Says that
he let her have two Guineas and that
she obtained one hat one Cloak & one Bonnet & other things as soon as
they were finished pretending she must carry them to
the Inn for fear they should be too late, but says she never
returned at two for the other Goods, says that on Enquiry
of his Wife he found she had left no Bank Note with
her but that she had obtained the Said Goods and Money
by that false pretence with an Intention to defraud him
of the same says that at that Time she called herself
Ann Hughes< no role > , says that at the Same time a piece
