AN INQUISITION indented, taken for our Sovereign LORD the KING, at the old Shavel
in Cable Street in the parish of Saint George in the County of
Middlesex , the Third Day of May in the 43d Year of the
Reign of our Sovereign LORD GEORGE the Third , by the Grace of GOD of the United Kingdom
of Great-Britain and Ireland King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Major Wright as-
Deputy to Edward Wath< no role > Esqr . one of the CORONERS of our said LORD the KING for the said County,
on View of the Body of Joseph Cox< no role > then and there lying dead,
upon the Oath of the several Persons whose Names are hereunder-written and Seals affixed,
good and lawful Men of the said County, duly chosen, and who being then and there duly sworn
and charged to inquire, for our said LORD the KING, when, how, and by what Means, the said
Joseph Cox< no role > came to his Death, do, upon
their Oath, say, That the said Joseph Cox< no role > not being of Sound ind did-
Memory and Understanding but Lunatic and Distracted on the first day of
May in the year aforesaid at the parish aforesaid in the County afsd. One End of a
Silk Handkerchief ld a Hat Pin fastned into the Wainscott in the Lodging Rooms
or Apartment of him the said Joseph Cox< no role > in his own Dwelling House Situated being
in the said parish and County and the other End thereof about his own Neck. did
Fix Tye and Fasten and therewith did then and the Hang Suffecate and Stragle
himself, of which said Hanging Suffocation and Strang his he the said Joseph
Cox then and there Dyed And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their oath aforesaid
Dosa that the said Joseph Cox< no role > not being of Sound Mind Memory and Understanding
but Lunatic and Distracted in manner and by the means aforesaid, did
Hill himself

IN WITNESS whereof, as well the said CORONER as the said John Lambert< no role >
the Foreman of the said Jurors, and the Rest of his said Fellows, have, to this Inquisition set
their Hands and Seals, the Day, Year, and Place first above-written.
