An Inquisition Indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at London (that is to say)
at the parish of Saint Botolph Billingsgate in the Ward of Billingsgate in London aforesaid
on the twenty ninth day of June in the thirty ninth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord< no role >
George the third King of Great Britain and so forth before Thomas Shelton< no role > Gentleman Coroner
of our said Lord the King for the City of London and Borough of Southwark on view of the body of
John Taylor< no role > now here lying dead by the oath of Robert Orr< no role > James Steed< no role > Alexander Adam< no role >
William Giles< no role > Simion Howard< no role > Robert Keldoy< no role > Daniel Clark< no role > Benjamin Butcher John Joachim< no role >
Thomas Mankin< no role > Thomas Green< no role > and Richard Lockin< no role > good and Lawful men of the City
of London aforesaid who being now here duly chosen sworn and charged to inquire for our
said Lord the King when how and in what manner the said John Taylor< no role > came to his
death say upon their oath that the said John Taylor< no role > then lately before accidentally
casually and by misfortune fell into the River of Thames there situate and in and with
the waters of the said River was then and there suffocated and drowned of which said
Suffocation and drowning the said John Taylor< no role > did then and there dieAnd so the
Jurors aforesaid upon their oath aforesaid do say that the said John Taylor< no role > in manner
and by the means aforesaid accidentally casually and by misfortune came to his
death and not otherwiseIn Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said
Robert Orr< no role > the foreman of the said Jurors on behalf of himself and the rest of his fellows
in their presence have to this Inquisition set their hands and seals the day year and
place first above written
