London Deposition of a Witness taken at London
that is to say at the Parish of Saint Nicholas< no role >
Acons in the Ward of Langbourn in
London aforesaid this 14th. day of December
1797 on view of the body of Robert Clark< no role >
now here lying Dead.

John Rust< no role > a Porter at the Pheonix Fire Office in
Lombard Street London maketh Oath That he hath known
the deced Robt Clark< no role > about eleven Years that he was
House porter in the said Office-That a little before ten
on Tuesday Night last Dept. returned to the Office that he
found the deced in the Office on the Ground floor- [..] Dept
[..] & the deced agreed to have some Broth-Dept. having
put the Sauce pan on the fire the deced desired Dept
to get the other things ready & he the deced would go into
the Cellar (which is underground) to draw some Beer
that the deced went to the Cellar Door & Dept. saw
him open the Cellar Door & heard him go down four or
five of the Stairs when he heard something fall which
he supposed to be the deced-Dept. took a Light and
went down the Cellar Stairs & found the decedlyingon
uponthe pavement at the bottom, his Legs upon the second
Stair from the Bottom rather lying on his Right Side &
his Head against a piece of up right wood in the Wall
which piece of wood jets or little out from the Wall and
Depts. [..] thinks the deced fall with his Head against
the corner of that piece of Wood-that the deced was
quite insensible-Dept. says a great quantity of blood
came from the back part of the deceds head and a great
quantity of Blood was on the pavement-Depts. placed
the deced on his bottom & got assistance and took the
deced up Stairs-Dept. went for a Surgeon who came
soon after-That in a little time after the Surgeon came
the deced departed this life
