Southwark Deposition of witness taken on at the Parish of
Saint John within the Borough of Southwark
in the County of Surrey this 3d. day of January
1797 on view of the body of Ann Bigsbee now
here lying dead.

Margaret [..] George Hastings< no role > of Dark house & Lane London
Fishmonger maketh Oath that the deced Ann Bigsbee widow
now lodged with Dept. in a two pair of Stairs Room No. 2 Griffiths Rents< no role > about four years
that the deced was an aged Woman and very Lame. That on
Sunday last between twelve & one at Noon dept. went from her
Apartments to go out to Dinner & left the deced in the Room
cooking her Dinner-that Dept. returned to her appartment
about nine of clock the same Evening that she found the Poor
ajar and [..] no Light in the Room-Dept. went in after
feeling about [..] for a Match she [..] upon something-Dept
put her hand down & fell the decd Dept. [..] out and
a Mrs. Estcourt who lodges in the same house came with an
Light-upon the Light being brought they discovered [..]
the deced her hand under the Grate & the right side of her
Face against the bars of the Grate that she was quite dead
[..] part of her neck [..] and [..] and the upper part of her Gown burnt awayThat her
Face & the upper part of neck was very much burnt.
