Southwark Deposition of a Witness taken at London
that is to say at the Parish of Saint John
within the Borough of Southwark in the
County of Surrey this 11th. day of June 1796
on view of the Body of William Tuttlebee< no role >
now here lying Dead.

Thomas Key< no role > a Mariner belonging to the friendship
Barge of Rockford in the County of Sussex where of William
Barnes
< no role > in Master now lying at Garlands Chain in the River
Thames maketh that he hath known the deced William
Tottlebee
< no role > about six years that he was a Mariner belonging
to the said Barge that about twelve at Noon this Day Dept. the
deced [..] belonging to the Barge were employed in an shipping
the Room of the said Barge that Dept. & the Boy were in the
Gangway of the Barge & the deced was on the Cabbin head on
the Carboard quarter of the Barge that he had on the Depike in
his hands & was pinching or foring the Room out of the Horse
wherein it was placed while doing on the Handspike slipping
(as Dept. believes) the deced fall backwards from the Cabbin hand
into the Water - Dept. immediately into a Boat while Dept
was geting into the Boat he saw the deced hands struggling on the
surface of the Water. that before Depts could get near the deced he
[..] under the Water Dept understood the deced was taken out
of the Water about half an hour after an [..] quite Dead.
