An Inquisition Indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at London
that is to say at the parish of Saint Bartholomew the less in the ward of Farringdon without
in London aforesaid on the twenty eighth day of November in the thirty third year of the
reign of our sovereign Lord< no role > George the third by the grace of God of Great Britian Fiance
and Ireland King defender at the faith and so forth before Thomas Shelton< no role > Gentleman
Coroner of our said Lord the King for the City of London and Borough of Southwark on
view of the Body of Mary Walker< no role > now here lying dead by the Oath of Prince
Edward King< no role > , John Castle< no role > , William Burt< no role > , Philip Evans< no role > , John Butcher< no role > , Richard Thompsons< no role >
William Davis< no role > , John Yeates< no role > , Richard Morrison< no role > , Richard Crossley< no role > John Scott< no role > , John Dolphin< no role >
Peter White< no role > , William Puckridge< no role > and Richard Benson< no role > good & lawful Men of the City of London afd
who being now here duly chosen sworn and charged to inquire for our said Lord the King
when how and in what manner the said Mary Walker< no role > came to her death say upon their
Oath that the [..] twenty seventh day of November in the year aforesaid at the
parish of Saint Leonard Shoreditch in the County of Middlesex on Thomas Webb< no role > being
then and there gently driving a certain Cart drawn by three houses out of a certain yard belonging
to the dwelling house of Sarah Powell< no role > Spinster there situate into a certain public street there
called cumberland Street the said Mary Walker< no role > then and there being near the gateway
of the said Yard Whilst the sd Cart was passing on as aforesaid It so happened that the said
Cart accidentally casually and by misfortune Violently and forcibly prefred her against
the gateway at the said Yard by means whereof she the said Mary Walker< no role > did then and
there receive one mortal bruise in and upon the right side of her head of which said
mortal bruise she the said Mary Walker< no role > do on the said twenty seventh day of November
as well at the said parish of Saint Leonard Shoreditch in the County aforesaid as also
at the parish of Saint Bartholomew the less did languishing and languishing did live
on which said twenty seventh day of November in the year aforesaid at the parish are Ward
aforesaid the said Mary Walkers of the said mortal bruise did die And to the Jurors aforesaid
upon their Oath aforesaid do say that the said Mary Walker< no role > in manner and by the
means aforesaid casually and by misfortune was accidentally killed [..] and that the said Cart was moving
to the death of the said Mary Walker< no role > and if the value of one Shilling and the property of
and in the possession of the aforesaid Sarah Powel< no role > In Witness whereof as well the
said Coroner as the said Prince Edward King< no role > the foreman of the said Jurors on behalf of
himself and the rest of his fellows in their have to this Inquisition set their hands and
seals the day year and place first above written
