An Iquisition Indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at London, that is to say,
at the Parish of Allhallows Barking in the ward of Tower in London aforesaid on the second
day of June in the thirty second Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third
by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King defender of the faith
and so forth before Thomas Shelton< no role > Gentleman Coroner of our said Lord the King for the
City of London and Borough of Southwark on view of the Body of Paul Hughes now
here lying dead by the Oath of Joseph Shepherd< no role > , Joseph Fennell< no role > , John Gray< no role > , John Toms< no role >
William Wardale< no role > Samuel Wright< no role > , Charles Boncock< no role > , William How< no role > , George White< no role >
Stephen Wagg< no role > , John Porter< no role > , James Blanch< no role > , Robert Adams< no role > and John Swinn good and
lawful men of the City of London aforesaid who being now here duly chosen sworn and
charged to Inquire for our said Lord the King when how and In what manner the
said Paul Hughes< no role > came to his death say upon their Oath that the said Paul Hughes< no role >
on the twenty eighth day of May in the Year aforesaid being in and on board of a certain
Vessel lying in the River Thames called the Swift Accidentally casually and by
misfortune fell from and out of the said Vessel into the said River Thames and in and
with the Waters of the said River was then and there Suffocated and drowned Of which
said suffocation and drowning the said Paul Hughes< no role > did then and there die And so
the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say that the said Paul Hughes< no role > in
manner and by the means aforesaid casually and by misfortune was Accidentally
Drowned In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said Joseph
Shepherd
< no role > the Foreman of the said Jurors on behalf of himself and the rest of his
Fellows in their presence have to this Inquisition set their hands and Seals the
day Year and Place first above written.
