Maintenance
of Poor
This Vestry was held to take into consideration
the late Act of Parliament for making better Provision
for the Maintenance of the Poor. And the said Act
was read by the Vestry Clerk.
Mr. Simpson, Master of the Workhouse
attended with
the Particulars of a Bill of Fare for the Poor in the
Workhouse
, and Stated that the Same had been approved
by the Parishes of St. Mary at hill
, St. Thomas Apostle
,
St. Mary Somerset
, and Several others.
It was Resolved and agreed by the Vestry, that the
Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor do Report to
the Quarter Sessions, concerning the State of the Poor
as follows
1st. Of those usually dominated, The out of doors
Poor
To these the Parish make an allowance per week
for the better support and Maintenance of themselves and
their Families, with occasional Clothing, but they do not
subsist wholly on Parochial Relief, according to the
description of Poor, as mentioned in the 4th. Section or
Clause of the aforesaid Act.
2dly. Poor in the Workhouse. These are kept
