Prisoners Committed under
Lottery. Act: Conson
of Opinions of Recorder
& Common Sergt. and
recommendation to the
Court thereon.Upon a Consideration of the Case lately laid before the
Recorder and Common Sergeant, and their Opinions thereon,
whereby it appears that Persons Committed to the Prison of
this Hospital under the Lottery Acts. cannot be legally
employed in the usual hard labour of the House; This
Committee, upon a perusal of both opinions, having reason
to doubt of the legality of Commitments to this House, of
Persons of that description, recommend to the General Court
to inform the Court of Aldermen thereof, and to request
them to take the same into their consideration.
