The Churchwardens informed the Committee that a
petition had been prepared by the Vestry Clerk agreeably
to the Order of Vestry on the 9th day of September last which
had been signed by upwards of one hundred of the
Inhabitants of Aldgate and the parts adjacent and
presented to the last Court of Common Council
of the
City of London
and had been referred by the said Court
to the Committee of City Lands to examine the
Allegations thereof and report their Opinion to the
Court And that they (the Churchwardens) had ordered
this Meeting to be summoned in Consequence of a
Letter they had received from the Comptroller of London
acquainting them that a Sub Committee of City
Lands would meet at Guildhall
