Committee upon the Shirtest Enquiry could not find that he was any waies privy to the Ill practices
of the said Thomas Middleton< no role >
And are of Opinion that he had only put too much Confidence in him
That the said Committee had Enquired and Examined into severall other
matters Complained of against the said Mr Groves and his wife but found the same to
be of no great Consequence
That the said Committee pursuant to the request of the Vestry had waited on
the Right honoble. the Lord Mayor and Deputy Recorder, and thereby presented the said
Middleton's procuring any meanes to gett off his Transportacon which he was then
applying for
That the said Mr Groves had expressed to the Committee his Great Sorrow and.
concern for his said Neglects and the placeing too much Confidence in the said Middleton
thereby so much disquiet had been Occasioned among the Parishioners and had promised
to be more cautions and personally to Attend the Duty of his place for the future.
