The Examination of Jane Gater< no role > of the Parish of St
Botolph without Aldgate in said County single woman
taken on oath before Me one of his Majesties Justices
of the peace for the County of Middx residing in or
Near the said Parish of St Botolph without Aldgate this
seventeenth day of May 1760

This Examinant on her oath saith that about eight Months ago one Thomas
Smith
< no role > the Younger of WatlingStreet near Cheapside London Upholsterer did
Prevail with this Examinant to Suffer him to lye with her at the house
of his father Thomas Smith< no role > in Moor Fields in the Parish of Saint
Botolph without Bishopsgate London Broker And the said Thomas
Smith
< no role > the Younger had Carnal knowledge of this Examinants Body
several times whereby she Conceived with Child or Children of which
she now goeth with and is Pregnant And this Examinant saith that
the said Child or Children of Which she now goeth with and is
Pregnant as aforesaid is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards
and to be Chargeable to the said Parish of St. Botolph without
Aldgate she being Poor and not able to Provide for the same And that
the said Thomas Smith< no role > the Younger is the true and only father of
the said Child or Children so likely to be born a Bastard or Bastards
as aforesaid And lastly saith that this Examination is Voluntary
And that she hath not been forced or Compelled to be examined by
any Person or Persons whatsoever
