The Examination of Ann Jones< no role > Singlewoman taken on Oath
before us Two of his Majesties Justices of the peace for the county
of Middx (whereof one is of Quorum) and both residing in or
next to the Limits of the parish Church of St. Botolph without
Aldgate in the Said County this Twenty Second-Day of May in
the Year of our Lord 1749 .

This Examinant maketh oath and Saith that about eleven
Months ago one John Martin< no role > of the parish of St. Mary Hill London
Waterman did prevail with this Examinant to suffer him
to lie with her at ye house of Margaret Lewis< no role > in the parish of
Saint John Wapping Middlesex and had Carnal knowledge of this Examinant
body Several Times whereby she conceived with Child of a Male Bastard
Child of which She was delivered at the workhouse of the said parish of St
Botolph without Aldgate on the eighteenthDay of Aprilnow
last past which said Male bastard Child hath been baptised by the
Name of John< no role > and hath been now is and still is likely to be chargeable
to the Said, parish of Saint Botolph without Aldgate this Examinant
being poor & not able to provide for the same And this Examinant further
Saith that the said John Martin< no role > is the true and only father of the said
Male bastard Child and that this Examination is voluntary and that she
hath not been forced or compelled to be examined by any person or persons
whomsoever
