Ann Ross< no role > the Widow of John Ross< no role > decd. maketh
Oath that She was lawfully Married to her said
late Husband at the Parish Church of St. Leonard
Shorditch sometime in the Month of October 1786
that her said late Husband was a Native of
Scotland & never did any Act to her knowledge or
belief to gain a settlement in England, that She
this Deponent was born in Ireland & before She
quitted Ireland She was hired as a Servant by
the year with Captn . Thos. Huntley< no role > of Paul Street
in the City of Cork Mariner at Certain Yearly
Wages that She continued in his Service there
about Sixteen Months, when he came from thence
to England & Rented a House of Twenty Four
Pounds a year or thereabouts in London Street
in the Hamlet of Ratcliff in the Parish of St.
Dunstan Stepney in the County of Middlesex that
She continued in Mr. Huntley's Service with One
of his Children about Five Months in Ireland
after Mr. Huntley had quitted that place, when
he paid her passage to England, & She continued
in his Service under the said hiring at his
House in London Street aforesaid about Seven
Months, that She has not since She quitted his
Service lived as a hired Servt. by the year
in any other Parish or Place for the Space of One
year together or done any Act to her knowledge
or belief to gain a Subsequent Settlemt. except
her Marriage as aforesd. that she has a Child named
John< no role > aged about Ten years the lawful issue by her said
late Husbd. And further saith that being Poor & unable
to provide for herself & Child She has been obliged to
apply to the Overseers of the Poor of St. Botolph without
Aldgate for Relief & has been relieved by them accordingly
