Bridewell Hospital regulations
relating to Elections postponed


At is the Opinion of this Court that the Motion proposed
to be made by Nathl. Newnham< no role > Esqr . Aldn . (Pursuant o Notice by
him given at a General Court held on the 23d. day of September last)
for rescinding an Order of Court Dated 27th. Novr. 1778 Whereby it is
Ordered."That in all future Elections at Bridewell Hospital Notice
"be Printed in the Summons's for the same agreeable to the invariable
"Practice of Saint Bartholomew's Hospital Vizt.That the Election (if
"there shall be more Candidates than one) will be Determined by
"ballotting by the Governors who shall be Present in Court when the
"Petitions of the several Candidates are read they are withdrawn
"and the Door locked after which no Governor can be admitted to
"Ballot."be postponed to the next General Court.

At this Court the Right Honble Anthony Ashley< no role > Earl
of Shaftesbury William Plomer< no role > of George Street Aldgate Esqr .
Samuel Thornton< no role > of Kings Arms Yard Esqr . and John Clements< no role > of
Saint Pauls Church Yard Esqr . were unanimously Elected Governors of
these Hospitals and It is Ordered that Slaves be sent them forthwith

proposed as a Governor


Robt. Cawley< no role > of Norfolk Street Strand Esqr . being proposed
by the Right Honble Charles Lord< no role > Camden to be Elected a Governor of
these Hospitals Pursuant to an Order of this Court bearing date the
23d. day of June last It is Ordered that such Election shall be
Determined by a Majority of Votes at the next General Court and
that Notice of such intended Election be inserted the Summons's
for such Court.
