Mr. Acton Steward of Bridewell Hospital made his Report in Writing to this Court
dated 20th. April Instant as fellowIn Obedience to an Order of Court 19th. Febry last
I waited on Sir John Bosworth< no role > Knt. Chamberlain of London and by his direction left a Copy of
the side Order in his office with a Gentleman there and have since been there to receive an
Account of the For failures therein Mentioned And I have received from him the full Account
Michaelmas 1722. A penalty of Nichs. Little< no role > salesman for Employing foreign Governors £1.15.4
1748. 21st. Octr. 1747. do of Luncolett Shadewell for employing Saml. [..] not being from £5

NB. The Name Jacob in the above Account is a mistake for [..]

The said Gentleman tells me the above Mentioned [..] are all that have been paid into
the Chamberlaines Office as he can paid but that he dersbelive there have been a great
many more such Penaltys such for recovered and received, but not duely paid as they
ought to be by the Persons receiveing them unto the Treasurer of this Hospital as the Act
requires And that the paying of the same with the Chamberlaine Office is improper
because the Chamberlain has nothing to do with it and the Receipt of it there is to no
other purpose but to pay it back again to the Trear when required and therefore they will
not receive any more for the future.
