Also upon reading to this Court the report of Mr Charles Marshal< no role >
and Mr Braham Smith< no role > two of the Governours of these Hospitals
That upon enquiry they doe find that Bradley Samson< no role > who Serv'd
his Apprenticeship with Robert Bowes< no role > one of the Artsmasters
of this Hospital is Sett up for himselfe in his trade of a
Shoemaker in Swan Alley in East Smithfield and has the
reputation of an honest man and a good husband It is
Order'd by this Court That Mr. Trear Gardiner doe give and
pay unto him Tenn pounds out of the profitts of Mr. Lock &
Mr Fowk's gifts the better to enable him to carry on his
Said Trade and that the Same be allowed Mr Trear in his
next account.

Hemp dressers to
take care of Convicts


Also upon reading a report from the Comittee of this House
under the hands of Mr Trear Gardiner, Mr. John Roydhouse< no role > &
Mr William Gruble< no role > three of the Governours of these Hospitals
and of the sd Comeesdwhich Report is in these words Vizt. At a
Comee at the Hospital of Bridewell Wednesday the Second
of June 1708. It is the Opinion of this Comittee That
the Two Hempdressers in this Hospital doe take care of all
the Prisoners in this house as well Convicts as others they
haveing the two best houses in consideracon of that Service &
but Six Boyes between'em and that the Hospital ought not to
be at any charge for a person to look after the Convicts
And it is Order'd That this opinion by reported to the
next Court This Court haveing duely weighed and
considered the said Report doth confirm the Same And
thereupon It is Ordered That from and after the end
of this week the Steward of this Hospital doe pay no more
money toPeirce the Hempdresser for looking
after the Convicts in this Hospital.
