Order for purchaseing 3
houses in Old Bethlem


This Court being Informed That there are three Houses in
Byshoppsgate Street without neare Old Bethlem vizt. a Cheese
-mongrs. a Coffee house & a back house behind the same wth: may
be very usefull & beneficiall for advancing the rents mold
Bethlem in case the Same can be purchased and upon
Consideracon and debate of the matter It is Orderedd by this
Court That Mr. Trear Gardiner doe proceed to purchase the
Freehold and Inheritance of the same prmisses of Mr. Thomas
Gardiner
< no role > mariner the now Proprietor thereof for the Sumey
One Thousand pounds being the lowest price the same can
be bought for. To the Use of the Hospll. of Bethlem And the
further Ordered That the sd. Mr. Trear Gardiner Sr: Gabrll:
Roberts

Hospll. doe soe Soon as conveniently may be purchase they

Also Att this Court The Order made the 29th: of Novermbr. 1698
concerning the Wardrobe of Bethlem hospll. being here reced.
It is Orderedd That the Comittee by the sd. Order appointed.
doe Meet at the sd Hospll. upon Wednesday next at nine of the
clock in the Forenoone to Settle the matter of the said Wardrobe
pursueant to the Direccon of the sd Order And That Mr. Warbrough
Mr Cottle and Mr. Tudman be added to the Comittee aforesaid
to Assist them therein

Beadles Gratuitys


Also Upon the humble Petition of the Foure Beadles & porter
man of the Hospll. of Bridewell For their usuall Gratuityes of
20s. a peise in respect of the halfe yeare Ending at Michas last
and alsoe for 20s. a peise more as hath been usually given the
for yt. their Sallary's are Small & they have all Familys to
maintaine It is Ordred. by this Cort That Mr. Trear doe give &
unto them Forty Shillings a peise as usuall to be allowed him
in his next Accot.

Also Upon the humble Petition of three Beadles or Basker-
men of the Hospll. of Bethlem for their usuall Gratuitys of
20s a peise usually given them by this Cort in respect of the
halfe yeare ending at Michas last It is Ordered by this Court
That Mr. Trear doe give and pay unto them Twenty Shillings
a peise to be Allowed Mr. Trear in his next Accot:

< no role > & Mr. John Somers< no role > That on Enquiry they doe find That
Mathias Weekes< no role > is Sett up for himselfe in his trade of a
Hempdresser & has the Character of a Sober young Man
It is Ordered by this Court That Mr. Trear doe give and pay
unto him Tenn pounds of the profitts of Mr. Locks Gift to be
allowed Mr. Trear in his next Accts.
