The Examination of Daniell
Wells

day of December 1712 And in the
Eleaventh year of the Kayis of
Queen Anno Etc.

Saith That his Wife Jane Well< no role > This name instance is in set 3122. 's being A
prisonor in the Joal of Newgate London
he this Examinant was prvailed upon by his
said Wife to Attompt to break upon the said
Joal in ordr. to gett her Liberty, And that one
Robert Wilkes< no role > another Prisoner in the said
Joal being made acquainted there viz, Press
this examinant to forward his worke & to
be Expeditions therein Breaking the said
Joale Accordingly this Examinant at Severall
times in the Space of Fowerteen dayes or
thereabouts, did worke A hole thro' the hall
Floor between the two Sellar Door's about
Eighteen Inches in break & Seaven Inches & an
halfe in height That And Pson might easly
Escape hereout.

And this Examinant Saith that he carried
A watch Spring into he said Joal & delivered
the same to nor Wilkes in ordr. to saw off his
Iron's And that he was assisting to he said
Wilkes in Sawing off he same in ordr. to
make his Escape
