This Informant James May< no role >
on his Oath Saith That on
Sunday morning the Twenty fifth day of July Instant about
Twenty Minutes past One O'Clock as he was going from the
Golden Key
Public house in Cock Cane in the Parish of Saint

Bethnal Green
in the said County of Middlesx to his
house in Bethnal Green
read in theParishaforesaid just
beyond the Sign of the Bladebone
in the said Road he heard the
foot steps of some persons walking before him in the afoot way
(he this Informant being himself in the middle of the Horseway
that he listened and was attentive to the foot steps going
behind the Turnpike house in the footway and that he
continued in the Horse way and walked through at the
Turnpike gate
the same being then open in his way home)
And further Saith that a little before he came to a lane
which leads from the said Turnpike Road to this Informant house
he saw two persons at the Edge of the foot way turning towards
this Informant, at that time he immediately stopped, that one
of the man appeared to be a tall an and the other a short
man, they immediately came up to this Informant and the
short man struck this Informant on the left side of his head with
a large stick he had in his hand and repeated his blows
till he knocked Informant down on the Ground and then he
kneeled down and picked this Informants pocket of
three shillings and six pence and some paper And that
during the nine the short was riffling his pocket the tall
man cut him several blows on the head with a Hanger
and Swore he would Murder him, then this Informant called
out Murder several times, upon which Informants wife and
daughters hearing it they came out at the door with a light
upon which they immediately ran into the adjoyning field

Examination is one of the two men that robbed and cut him
in manner above mentioned.

This Informant Randolph Durant Saith that he is a Servant
to Mc. Timmings and Company Brickmakers who hath
Brickfields nearly adjoyning to Bethnal Green
Turnpike road
and Saith that on Sunday Morning the Twenty fifth day of
July Instant [..] between the hours of one and two O'Clock
