Square taken upon Oath this 29th Day of Septemr. 1772 before us
[..] of his Majestys Justices of the peace in & for the said County.

This Informant being upon her Oath declareth and Saith thataboutbetween fiveo'Clock
& Six o'Clock in the Evening last night, her Husband Simon Ward< no role > came to this
Informants said Lodgings, and then appeared Much disguised in Liquor (but perfectly
acquainted with what he then did & said) and said to this Informant Jeeny I now
have it in my power to be of service to myself, and will keep it so; for I have got Some
Money and will not part with it till such time as I have proper amends for the Work
I have done as he had found great altercations, and he then insisted upon this Informant
going out of the House with him which this Informant refused, that then one Mr.
Robert Holloway< no role > This name instance is in set 3658. came into this Informants Lodgings who began to cause Mr. Ward with
great Violence immediately because that the said Holloway had sent the said Ward on
an Earnd to procure money on Account of Mr Leo who was in trouble and that the
said Ward had not returned in due time with the Money and thereupon the said Ward
and Holloway departed in Company together from this Informant Lodgings.

In about Ten Minutes afterwards, the said Holloway returned alone
to this Informants Lodgings, and asked this Informant whether Ward was come back
there Also this Informant told him no then Holloway said that Ward had made away
with all the money he had received all but Six or Seven Guineas which sum arose from the
said Ward's having pawned apair of Siver Candlesticks; and after many other abusive
insectives against the said Ward, the said Holloway went away

About half an Hour after nine this morning (being 29th Sepr.) the said Holloway came again
to this Informants Lodgings, and asked this Informant it she had yet Seen Ward, she answered
no, [..] this Informant [..] then told Holloway that Justice
Week's people were after him; at which Holloway seemed Alarmed and said Damm their
Bloods they can do nothing with me. and he immediately went away & said not a Word
more; and this Informant further saith That Simon Ward< no role > told her that the
Candle sticks as were bought and pawned were purchased with a Swindle Bill
Which this Informant says was a Bad Bill which wou'd never be paid and which said
Bill (meaning the Swindle Bill or Bad Bill) was the Bill with which John William Leo< no role >
had [..] the said Silver Candlesticks and which Bill he the said Leo had given in payment
for the same.
And this Informant saith that the said Simon Ward< no role > had on former occassions
told her that Swindle Bills were bad Bills and wou'd never be paid, and which said
Bill was the Bill (as this Infamant beleives) with which John William Leo< no role > got the said
Silver Candlesticks and which Swindle Bill she verily believes the said Leo had given
in payment for the same.
