Examination TextThe Examination of Alice Boom widow lodging at Bennett's in Rose Street in Long Acre in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken upon oath this 12th Day of July 1756. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 28 years of age and is the widow of John Boom (who died three years ago as she hath heard), that since his death having no children living she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Cope a Coachmaker in Long Acre in the Parish aforesaid for the space of one year and three months quarters at the yearly wages of 5 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same about six weeks ago, And this Examinant on her voluntary oath further saith that she is now Great with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that Thomas Foreman an apprentice to Mr Cope aforesaid had carnal knowledge of her body in the month of November last in a chair in the Kitchin at the house of Mr Cope aforesaid and several times afterwards in the same place at which or one which times he the said Thomas Foreman did beget her with child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant of, and that he the said Thomas Foreman is that true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year abovesaid before Benjamin Cox.
