Examination TextRebecca Card aged about 64 years removed by an order of two Justices from the Parish of St. John the Evangelist in the city of Westminster to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the widow of Thomas card (who died the 24th June 1778) to whom she was married at the Fleet about 42 years ago, that her said husband was a Deputy Porter at the Palace of St. James's and lived in and rented an house opposite the Burying Ground in St Martin's Lane in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of seven years at the yearly rent of 20 pounds besides taxes, quitted the same about 10 years ago, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes afterwards, that she this Examinant hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since the death of her said husband.
