Examination TextThe Examination of Elizabeth Atwood in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she never was married, that she was on the second Day of January instant delivered in the workhouse aforesaid of a female bastard child (since christened Ann) yet living and is become chargeable to the Parish aforesaid, and that Samuel Sladen a Carpenter (lately did work for Mr Christie in Northumberland Street but where he is now to be found she cannot tell) did beget on her body the said female bastard child, and that he the said Samuel Sladen is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the 30th Day of January 1780 before William Hyde, Thomas Bullard.
