Mr Crowthers
proposal
[..] Admitted in
Writing-for
Regulations as to
[..] discased Poor
[..] t

Mr Crowther having sent a Letter the same was Read & is as
follows.

"To the Churchwardens Overseers of the Poor and
"Assistants of the Parish of St Clement Danes

"Gents

"Being appointed and having acted for some few
"years as Surgeon to your Workhouse , it has often occurred to
"me during that time, that regulations might be made (under
"your sanction) that would tend very much to the benefit
"not only of the diseased Poor within the Workhouse but also
"to every distressed Person in the Parish who should Stand in
"need of Assistance

To convince you that I am disinterested in such
"regulations I mean, if the following Plan is adopted, to
"resign the Salary at Present allowed me Provided you will
"pay for such Drugs Medicines [..] as shall be wanted,
"which I undertake shall not exceed in expence what is
"now paid me as a Salary

"In the first place as to the Poor Persons in the
"Workhouse I should wish that two Wards might be set
"apart for Surgeon's Patients that they might be
"furnished with half Tester Beds & Curtains that a
"regular Diet might be appointed of Breakfast Dinner &
"Supper without any Commutation to be allowed in Money
"or other Article

"That a small Compartment might be fitted as [..]
"in the Great Hall as a Surgery where I will engage to
"attend every Morning for one Hour or if obliged to be
"elswhere on any emergency would appoint a proper person
"to attend for me and that every Poor distressed person
