Mary May< no role > aged upwards of 24 Years Upon
Oath says she never was Married, and that she lived
a hired Yearly Servant with Mr. Clements a farmer in the
Parish of Great St. Helen's in the Town of Abingdon in
the County of Berks for one Year and upwards at the
Yearly Wages of Thirty Shillings and hath not since she
quitted said Service Rented House paid Taxes or lived
a hired Yearly Servant for One Year And further upon
her Voluntary Oath says, she is pregnant with Child or
Children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or
bastards and to become chargeable to the Parish of St.
Clement Danes in the County of Middlesex where she now
lodges, she being poor and Unable to Maintain the same
when born, says that Mr. Richard Digory< no role > who keeps
the Green Man and French horn in Bow Street near
Covent Garden did beget the said bastard Child or
Children on her body with which she is now pregnant
the said Richard Digory< no role > having had carnal knowledge
of this Examinants body on or about the 14th, day of
May 1766, and at one other time afterwards, at one
of which times he got her with Child of the Child or
Children with which she is now pregnant and that
the said Richard Digory and no other person did beget
the same.
