The Examination of Hannah Dyke< no role > taken the
twenty seventh Day of Octr. 1740 Who upon her voluntary Oath
Saith she is a Widow [..] & that
on the seventeenth Day of this Inst. Octr. she was delivered
of a Male Bastard Child in Thier Lane in the Parish
St. Clemt. Danes in the Liberty of Westmr . & County of Middx
which sd. Male Bastard Child is now living and likely to
become Chargeable to the sd. Parish she being Poor & not
able to maintain the same & further saith that one Mr.
Offree in Dove Court in Lombard Street Teaman did beget
the sd. Child on her Body she this Exaiant at such time
liveing as a Yearly hired Servt . with one Mr. Harris in Pall
Mall & the sd. Mr. Offree being accquainted with her used to
call on her & this Exaiant & the sd. Mr. Offree went to the
Cardigan Head Tavern by Charing Cross where the sd.
Mr. Offree had twice Carnall knowledge of this Exaiants
Body at one of which times he got her with the Male
Bastard Child she was delivered of as aforesaid & that
he the sd. Mr. Offree & no other Person is the true & real father
thereof
