The Examination of Sarah< no role > the Wife of Jas. Hart Passed from the
Parish of St. Peter in the East in the City & County of Oxford by Order
bearing Date the 9th. Day of Novr. Inst. Who upon her Oath saith that
her sd. Husband Jas. Hart< no role > was bound an Apprentice to one Mrs. Coster
Perukemaker in the Parish of St. Peter in the East in ye. City & County
of Oxford aforesd. Wido. for the Term of Eight Years & Served her as an
Apprentice for the space of Seven Years & upwds. & never was assigned over
to any Person for the remainder of his sd. Apprentiship as her sd. Husband
informed her & as she verily beleives And further saith yt. her sd. Husband
Jas. Hart upwds. of one Year ago lived in & Rented a Ground Floor in ye.
House of one Mr. Bruce in Vear Street in the Parish of St. Clemt.
Danes in the County of Middx of the Yearly Rent of £10 & lived
in ye. same for the space of one Year & upwds. yt. the sd. House was
let out into Eight Apartmts. that there was but one Street Door to ye.
sd. House wch all the Tents. were obliged to go in & out at that the
Water Yard & Privy were for the use of ye. Sevll. Tents. in Comon that
they never were Rated or Assessed but yt. ye. sd. Mr. Bruce ye. Landlord
Paid all Taxes in Generll. wch was Rated or Assessed on the sd. House
And this Examint. further upon her Oath saith that her sd. Husband
hath not since he left his sd. Mistress Rented £10 a year (same as aforesd.)
Paid Parish Taxes lived with any Person as a yearly hired Servt. for the
space of one Year or otherwise gained a Settlemt. in any other Place
to her Knowledge or beleife That her sd. Husband now absconds from
her & haveing one Child (to wit) Sarah< no role > aged one Year & upwds. and
being Poor is not able to maintaine herselfe & Child
