to wit Sophia Powell< no role > aged upwards of Eighteen Years
on her Oath Says she never was married Rented House or paid
Taxes says he has served upwards of Six Years of her
Apprenticeship to Mr. Hedges a Jeweller in Vere Street in the
Parish of Saint Clement Danes in the Liberty of Westminster
& County aforesaid and hath gained no other Settlements
than As aforesaid And further on her Voluntary Oath says
she is pregnant with Child or Children which is or are likely
to be born a Bastard or Bastards and to become Chargable
to the said Parish (she being poor and unable to maintain the
same when born) And further says that one Major David
Johnson
< no role > who lately lodged at her said Masters House and
who now Uses Perceys's Coffee House in Rath bone Place is the
Father thereof he having had Carnal Knowledge of her Body
sometime in the Month of March last but the particular
day she does not now remember and at one other time
afterwards at one of which times he got her with Child of
the Child or Children of which she is now pregnant and that
the said Major David Johnson< no role > and no other person did
beget the same and that he is the real and true Father thereof
