Sarah Godfrey< no role > aged about twenty six Years on her
Oath says she never was married Rented house or
paid Taxes Says she lived a hired Yearly Servant with
one Lady Cavendish at Dovetridge in the parish of
Dowbridge in the County of Derby for two Years and upwards
at the Yearly Wages of Nine pounds hath quitted her
said Service about sixteen Months ago since which
time she never lived a hired Yearly Servant for one Year
And further upon her Oath says that on the 22nd- Day of
Sepr- 1777 she was delivered of a Female Bastard Child
at Mrs Wheelers in Essex Street in the Strand which has
since been baptized Mary< no role > and is now become chargeable
to the parish of St- Clement Danes And that one Richard
Palmer
< no role > a Taylor in Dowbridge aforesaid is the Father
thereof he having had carnal Knowledge of her body
in Lady Cavendish's house but the particular day she
does not now remember and at sevl- difft- times afterwds-
at one of which times he got her with Child of the Female
Bastard Child of which she was so delivd- as afsd- and that
the said Richard Palmer< no role > and no other person did beget
the same & that he is the real and true Father thereof
