the Deceased and the Deponent went together to Mr.
Scott at his Master's Mr Gibbs, Smith in the same
Street, the Deceased, the Deponent, Mr. Scott, and two
other Men went to the Public House known by the Sign
of the General Wolfe in Oxford Street they Dined and
drank several Pots of the together, about the time of
paying the reckoning, or rather before, John Lewis< no role > come
in, and another Man with him; after they had been there
some time, some words arodesome Person said that this
Deponent should jump against Lewis, Deponent answered
he would jump with him, but he could not jump so far
as he could - some Musical Instrument being brought in
Lewis began to Dance, and then the Company poposed
that the Deponent should Dance with him which he
refused - Scott and Lewis than put down a Shilling-which
of them could jump the fartherScott and Lewis went
out of the House cute Hyde Park and the Deceased and the
Deponent went likewiseScott jumped first and Lewis
after but fell at the Cotton and, it was what is called Hop
Step and Jump - it was then said that was not fair and to
the best of this Deponent Knowledge Lewis said he would
do
do it again - Lewis jumped again and did not fall
the Deponent was on the spot of Ground where they
stated from and Lewis and the Deceased were at the
other and - Deponent understand some dispute as all
among these at that end where Lewis and the Deceased
were, but Deponent could not him what - soon after
the Deceased come up with his Coat off towards where
the Deponent was and Lewis followed, and Deponent
hend Lewis say this Moor (meaning the Deceased) is a
going to Right me and I'le Hight him, and they both
stripped, a place was cleaned one the two Seconds said
Shake hands together which they did, they then began
to fight, the Deceased had the first fall, afterwards
the Deponent thinks the Deceased Knocked Lewis down
they began again, and several Blows past, at last he
saw the Deceased fall again - Deponent was in the
outside of the Ring with the Deceased's Clothes, and soon
after he went to where the Deceased buy, and was told he
was a Dead ManDeponent Says the Deceased has drank
a great deal, but he cannot tell whether Lewis had or no
the Deceased Died in a very short time while lying on the
Ground. Deponent beleives the Deceased and Lewis were stronger
to each other
