Informations taken this third
day of October 1787 at the Parish of
St. George Hanover Square with in the
Liberty of Westminster in the County
of Middlesex upon in Inquisition
touching the death of James Matthews< no role >
lying dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County.

George Bellamy< no role > Chairman to the most
Honable the Marquis of Landsdown one
his Oath saith That about Twelve o' Clock
this day or a little before Dept. was
Packing up a Dozen of Bottle in the Marquises
House in Berkley Square in order to
carry it to the White Horse Cellar in
Piccadilly Says that he was after ward
Rolling a Cash at the bottom of the House
in order to go out at the Back Door
and on the Stone Pavement at the bottom
of the Back Stairs Dept. saw James
Matthews
< no role > the Deced (who lived at the
Marquis's House) lying down, Bleeding
from a Wound over the Deced's right Eye
and a great deal of Blood upon the
Stones Says that he did not touch the
Deced but called Joseph Sawyer< no role > the
Porter who went with Dept. to the Deced
who Breathed a lived for about an hour but
could not speak, Says that the Endeavourd
to lift up the Deced, Says that Mr.
Atkinson the Apothecary and Mr. Gillio
the Surgeon were fetched, and Mr. Gillio
Examined the Body, and said that nothing
could be done for the Deced who was
dying, Says that he does not think
that
