Informations taken this Twenty Fifth
day of July 1783 at the Parish of St. George
Hanover Square within the Liberty of
Westmr. in the County of Midsex upon and
Inquisition touching the death of William
Padmore
< no role > lying dead in the said Parish
Liberty and County

Benjamin Wood< no role > Journeyman to John Cheesemore< no role >
of Fulham Carpenter on his Oath saith That yesterday
the Twenty fourth Instant he was at Work for
Mr. Cheesemore at a House in Arlington Street
in the Parish of St. George Hanover Square , says
that William Padmore< no role > the Deced and several
others were likewise there at work Says that
between five and six o'Clock yesterday the
Deced and another Workman had some words
above some old Wood which they were to
take away for themselves, upon which the
Deced struck the other Man a Blow with
his Fist upon the left Eye which made it
black, the Deced having taken off his Cloaths
says that the other Man upon that returned
the Blow, and they fought in the Street
Says that they both dropped down together
says that they fought again and Deced
reced a Blow under his Ribs on the left
side upon which he fell, That he attempted
to fight again, but was not able, and then
gave out but said that he was no way hurt
and each of them went to work in different
Places, Says that one of the Workman in
about a Quarter of an hour informed Dept.
and others that he found the Deced dead upon
the Stairs leading to the Kitchin in one of
the Houses upon which they were at Work
