about half hour after Ten, Dept. being Bottling
some Beer below Stairs, heard a Noise but
could not then say whether it was above Stairs
or out of Doors, and seeing nothing, Dept.
continued his Work, Says that about half
after Eleven o'Clock, Sarah Peplow< no role > who now
lives in the House, came to Dept. saying that
she saw Blood upon the Stairs, and asked
Dept. if Mr. Cuttle had cut himself, Says that
he went there and saw Blood at the bottom
of the Stairs, and some Drops of Blood upon the
Stairs up of Deced's Room, and not seems the
Deced there Dept. came down and traced the
Blood through the Garden to the Wall by the
Thames side, and saw the Impression of a Man's
foot in the Mud upon the old Stairs on the outside
of the Wall, and Dept. believes that the Deced
got over there into the Thames. Says that the
Dutchess's Steward soon after came home and
went up with Dept. into the Deced's Room and
there found a Pistol upon a Chair that had been
Discharged, and another loaded Pistol upon the Floor
and some Blood upon the Floor, the Room smelling
of Gun powder when Dept. first went into it.
Says that there was a Letter found upon the Table
in Deced's room Sealed up and Addressed to her Grace
the Dutchess of Portland in Deced's hand writing
as Dept. thinks Says that the Deced yesterday
Morning about Seven o'Clock asked Dept. for a
Pen Ink & Paper and between Eight & Nine o'Clock
Deced brought to Dept. the Latter now produced
by him Addressed to Mr. Stephen Cuttle< no role > of Hamdley
in Yorkshire Sealed up. Says that he was
informed that the Deced was found soon after
in the River Thames Drowned, and believes that
the Deced threw himself into the River Says
That the Deced on Tuesday Night last appear
to be Melancholy and low Spirited.

Sarah Peplow< no role > a Servant to Mrs. Philpot at the
Dutchess of Portland 'son her Oath saith That
she yesterday saw Blood upon the Stairs and
acquainted the Porter therewith, that they saw
some Blood upon the Stairs upto Deced's Room
which smelt much of Gun powder, That they
traced the Blood through the Garden to the Well
of the Thames , and the Print of a Man's foot in
the Mud upon the old Stone Stairs to the Thames
and believes that the Deced went himself into
the Thames, And this Dept. says that she observed
the Deced appeared to be low Spirited and Confused
and was a long time before he made any Answer
when spoke on Tuesday Night, That he was
so yesterday Morning & looked wild. and Dept.
believes that he then was Disordered in his Mind.
