and theDecedConstable were both very much in Liquor
at the time they were in the House, Says that the Deced
was a Quarrellsom Man, and used to fight frequently
at the Bell. And this Dept says that she found a Clap
Knife Stut upon the Floor before the Constable went out of
the House, and Dept. gave it to the Constable

Rinah Bell< no role > a Lodger at the Plow in Rapken Cross
in the Parish of St. Margaret Westmr. Single Woman on her
Oath saith that this day Month (being the Eleventh day of
Novr.) as this Dept. believes, she was at the House of Mr.
Holland the Sign of the Bell in John Street in the Parish
of St. Margaret, when Elizabeth Peace otherwise Hawley
came in with Mr. Church the Constable Richard Aris< no role > being there says that she immediately
went into the Yard, and that whilst she was there she heard
a Noise in the Taproom, as if some Parsons were Tighting
and heard Mr. Church desire to be assisted in the Kings
name, says that when she came out of the Yard, the Deced
and Mr Church the Constable were gone out of the House

Elizabeth Pearce< no role > otherwise Hawley< no role > a Lodger at Mr. Terrye
in Broker Cross on her Oath saith, That she had been abused
by Richard Aris< no role > Mary Owens< no role > Several times, says that on the
Eleventh day of Novr. last Mr. Justice Manley Granted hee a
warrant to bring them before him, says that on the said 11th.
day of Novr. she took Mr. Church a Constable with her to the
Sign of the Bell in John Street and there found Mary Owens< no role >
who was carried before Mr. Manley, says that she returned
with the Constable to the Bell, and then found Richard
Aris there upon which she told the Constable that was his
Prisoner Shawing him Richard Aris< no role > and then went to
the Door, Says that on hearing a Noise she came in and the Constable crying out for Assistance in the Kings Name she came in and

then saw the Deced lying on the Floor in the Taproom
the Constable Standing by, Says that the Constable made
a Blow or two towards the Deced with a Care or Stick
but Dept cannot say that they fell upon the Deced, Says
that the Decd lay upon the Floor about ten Minutes, Says
that she then went into the Yard and when she returned
the Deced and the Constable were gone out of the House
says that no person was in the Yard with this Dept, Juring
the time that she was there and this Dept. says that a Boys
soon after came to her, Saying that the Constable desired her
to come to Mr. Miller a Justice of the peace in the Great
Sanctuary , or that the Deced would be Discharged, Says that
she went there and found the Deced with the Constable, the
Deced having neither Coat Waistcoat or [..] Shirt on, and
his Head Bleading, and the Deced groaning very much

Elizabeth Steele< no role > the Wife of Hugh John Steele< no role > of air Speet in the Parish
of St. James Westmr. Slater) on her Oath saith, that about a
Month ago this Dept. was going with George Frederick Meden< no role >
along Queen Street in the Parish of St. Margaret Westmr . About
Seven o'Clock in the Evening Says that she saw a man
running a long Queen Street without any Shirt Coat or
Waistcoat an and two Men coming after him crying out
stop him Stop hind Says thatone of the Men being ashe heard the
sound of two Shokes, and that the Man without his Shirt thereupon
fell down in the Street and lay there some time, says that
the Man lying on the Ground Groaned very much. That
they went away, and in a few days after being informed
that the Man that was hurt in Queen Street was carried to the
Westmr Infirmary, she went there and told the Motron her
nam e but did not see the Deced there
