The Order of William Tyler< no role > and Robert
Johnson
< no role > Esquires Two of His
Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the said
City and Liberty
one whereof is of the Quorum, and both residing within
the Parish of Saint James, in the said Liberty, made the
twentieth Day of August One
Thousand, Seven, Hundred and Ninety Eight
concerning a female Bastard Child, lately born
in the Parish aforesaid, of the
Body of Elizabeth Brown< no role > .

Whereas, it hath appeared unto us the said Justices, as well upon the Complaint
of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint James, as
upon the Oath of the saidElizabeth Brown< no role > that she the said
Elizaebth Brown on the Sixteenth Day of
June last was delivered of a female Bastard Child,
in the said Parish of Saint James, in the said Liberty, and that the said female
Bastard Child, is become chargeable to the said Parish of Saint James:
and further, that William Story< no role > a Journeyman Carpenter
Water Street Blackfryars did beget the said Bastard Child on
the Body of her the said Elizabeth Brown< no role > and Whereas
the said William Story< no role > hath been summoned
to appear before us, the said Justices in the
Vestry-Room of the Parish Church of the Parish aforesaid, to shew cause if he could
why he should not adjudged the reputed Father of the said female Bastard Child,
and Whereas the said William story< no role > did appear but did not
shew sufficient cause why he should not be adjudged the
reputed father of the said female Bastard Child
We therefore upon Examination of the Cause and Circustance of the Premises, as
well upon the Oath of the said Elizabeth Brown< no role > as otherwise, do
hereby adjudge him the said William Story< no role > to be the reputed Father
of the said female Bastard Child.

And thereupon we do order,a s well for the better Relief of the said Parish of Saint
James, as for the Sustentation and Relief of the said Bastard Child, that the said
William Story< no role > shall and do forthwith, upon Notice of this our Order,
pay or cause to be paid to the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
Parish of Saint James, or to some or one of them, the Sum of three pounds
and Eleven Shillings for and towards the Lying in Maintenance
and Expense of the said Elizabeth Brown< no role > and her
of the said Bastard Child, to the Time of making this our Order

And we do also hereby further Order, that the said William Story< no role >
shall likewise pay, or cause to be paid, to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the
Poor of the said Parish of Saint James, for the Time being, or to some or one of them,
the Sum of three shillings Weekly and every Week from the
present Time, for and towards the Keeping, Sustentation, and Maintenance of the
said Bastard Child, for and during so long a Time as the said Bastard Child shall be
chargeable to the said Parish of Saint James.
