aforesaid Patten maker
severally make Oath and say
and first this Deponent Charles Bower for himself
saith that he did on the seventh day of this instant
April serve a time Copy of the Notice of Tryal he went
ann ext upon Messrs. Debery and Cohe Sollicitors for
the Prosecution and who had previously consented
to this Deponent to receive such Notice of Tryal
and that he Deponent did on the same day cause a
Venire to be taken out for the purpose of Proceeding
to Tryal and this Deponent further saith that on
Tuesday last the day previous to the day of Tryal
Mr. Cope the Prosecutors Sollicitor waited on this
Deponent at his Chambers in Chilford Inn (a previous
application having made by this Deponent to said
Mr. Cope to endeavour to prosucure a settlement) and
enquired of Deponent whether Tams could not be
made so ash prevent going into burnt and siad Mr.
Cope appeared to be very anxions to have said
Prosecution settled and profered that if Defendant
would pay a seem of seven Guineas towards the Corts of
this andanotherformer Tryal that had taken place
against on Joseph Bell< no role >
at the last Sessions for the same
offence and also pay five pounds on Account of a Horse
