Courts}

Courts and that the Grand Committee had returned him their thanks for his
faithfull Services Whereupon the thanks of the General Court were
unanimously given to him And he having acknowledged his obligations to
the Court for their great Civilities to him Resigned the said Offices And the
Court proceeded to the Choice of a Proper Person to Succeed him therein And
the Petition of Mr. Thomas Matthew< no role > (who was the only Petitioner) being
read and he being called in the said Thomas Matthew< no role > was unanimously
chosen Clerk of this Hospital and Steward of our Mannour Courts from
Midsummer next during the Pleasure of this Court at the usual Salaries
of Thirty Pounds P Ann as Clerk and fourteen Pounds p Ann as Steward
of the said Courts with the usual (Fees and Perquisites belonging to the said
Offices And the said Thomas Matthew< no role > being acquainted therewith promised
a due attendance on the Affairs of the Hospital and was thereupon at this Court
Admitted to the said Offices.
