The Orders and Proceedings of the last Generall
Court were read and confirmed

A Report from the Comittee of this Hospitall was read in the
Words following.

To the Rt: Worpll: the Generall Court
of Governours of St: Thomas Hospitll :

Wee of the Comittee appointed for Managing the
Affaires of this Hospitall doe Certify our Proceedings
since the last Court (as followeth) vizt:

Order of Councill to
Stop the Eleccon of it
Dr: & Surgeon in the
Room of Dr: Torlesse &
Mr: Elton:


That Doctor Torlesse and Mr: Elton (who were displaced from
their Employments of Physitian and Surgeon in the Hospitall at the last
Court) having upon their peticon to her Majesty in Councill obtained an
Order the 23th: of March last Directing the Governours of this Hospitall
not to proceed to the Eleccon of a Physitian and Surgeon in their Roome
till her Majesties pleasure should be further knowne She intending to
heare the Matter touching the displaceing of the said Doctor and Surgeon
by Councill at that Board And they haveing served the Rt: Worppll: Sr:
Robert Clayton< no role > Knt : President of the Hospitall and also the Treasurer
of this Hospitall with a Coppy of the said Order the same day The President
thought fitt to putt off the said Electon which was otherwise appointed to
have been the 24th: of that Month Whereupon wee directed a Coppy
of the said peticon to be taken out and Recomended and Referred the
Care of prepareing and Makeing defence for this Hospitall to the
Matter of the said Peticon to the President and Treasurer of this
Hospitall in such manner as they should think most propper. Calling
to their Assistance such other of the Governours as they should think
fitt.
